What was I busy with?

Woohoo..!! I AM BAAAACK..!!

Finally I have a time off to get back to my blog, although it might not be that interesting to many, I am excited to get back to this.

Since I was extremely busy with life, and my soul took a wrong turn to a dark place where I was constantly not only down and depressed but hating my life too, I decided to take on a challenge that was shared by one of my great friends on Facebook. The challenge is 100 days of Happiness, and it is as it sounds. So I have to think of the happy things that happened in my life for the period of 100 days. And so I took it on and I also started a new blog on my challenge.

Don't forget to follow my challenge development on

It's been a LONG While

To everyone who used to follow my blog to find out more about the interesting events happening in Khartoum, I AM SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING MY BLOG.

Life has been hectic herein Sudan, and I have been working extremely hard in keeping 2 jobs and being a full time mother. I work as a teacher in the morning, a radio broadcaster in the evening and a mother in between. I am loving the teaching and presenting jobs but I am in the process of starting a third job. I am planning on a massive start and I have been working hard for my business to stand on its own two feet.

If you want to know what it is then you have to wait formy next post where I will explain to you my new addition to my busy life.

My UNDP Voice Over

So I have been busy the past couple of months, so busy that I have completely forgotten about my blog, facebook and even twitter. On top of all that, My smart phone's internal drive got burnt due to the fluctuating electricity which is not so smart. Now, I have been stripped from every modern piece of equipment that keeps you connected to the virtual world - no smart phone, no laptop, no pads -.

I stumbled across a video that contains my voice, it was a piece of work that was done for the UNDP here in Sudan and I've executed the Voice-Overs in both English and Arabic for the mini videos. Do take a bit of time to check it out and let me know what you think.

This is the link for the English UNDP mini video
and this is the Arabic UNDP mini video

Nas Al Khartoum on The Lounge 91.6FM

My second photo on my Nas Al Khartoum segment on my show was of one of my son's physiotherapists. He is one of the most committed individuals that I have ever come across here in Sudan. Thank you for giving me this chance and allowing me to introduce you to the world. This was our conversation:
"I'm a qualified physiotherapist who chose to work with children. Children with special needs are a blessing; they are easier to work with and to cheer up."
"Do you like your job?"
"Giving children with special needs the chance for a better life is the best job in the world."

"Dordouma" Sudanese Popsicles

"Dordouma" is the Sudanese interpretation of ice lollies or popsicles. They are the common street snack in the summer time all around Khartoum. It costs only 1 sudanese pound.
Dordoumas are basically frozen different local fruit juices. It comes in various colours and flavours; Hibiscus,  guava, mango, baobab, tamarind. Tamarind and baobab are the main flavours all over the city.
They are made by freezing the juices in mini plastic packs and they are served by wrapping a piece of newspaper around it. All you have to do is rip the plastic packs and enjoy your "dordouma".
It has turned into a bit of an addiction for me, as I got used to getting one whenever I wait for my bus heading to Khartoum city centre. My favourite flavour is red guava as it is rich and quenches your thirst perfectly.

Changing Places

I've recently started going to a new tea lady place. It's located in Khartoum 2; in front of the Ethiopian Church and right next to the Dutch Embassy.
What I love about my tea lady Zainab is that she's extremely friendly and unbelievably wise. She keeps giving me free advice on life, treating people and money.
One of the wonders of Khartoum, in my opinion, is the tea ladies. They are scattered all over the city and they are found almost in every corner.
Their tea and coffee has its own unique flavour which I highly recommend. On top of all that, they are reasonably priced.

Nas Al Khartoum on The Lounge 91.6FM

I have added a new segment to my radio show "The Lounge" on Capital 91.6FM in Khartoum Sudan.
My segment is called Nas Al Khartoum, it is basically the people of Khartoum. It's been inspired from the "People of New York" page on Facebook.
My first photo was of one of my dear friends who works as a waitress at my favourite restaurant. Her name is Maha and this is what I asked her and what she said.
"What do you fear the most in life?"
" I fear deception."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm scared of being deceived by people around me. To be deceived in a relationship, marriage, love or even at work"
Check it out every Thursday evening at 7pm (Khartoum time) on www.capitalfm.sd
