Busy Bee

I haven't been posting any posts recently and I thought it'll only be fair to share the reason behind that.
I started working for a radio station now and my show is daily so I barely have time to go out and explore the lovely city of Khartoum.  So do tune in and listen to my live show 'shortcuts' on Capital 91.6FM every Saturday to Thursday from 3 to 5 pm local time (Sudan Time).
You can tune in online if you are located outside Sudan on Capital 91.6FM

The Rain

Since it has been raining quite a lot the past couple of weeks, the Nile strated rising extremely quick.

Black Art

One of the things to try when you're in Sudan, is the black henna body art. It is temporary and lasts for about couple of weeks if you take care of it. The black henna does not suit everyone as it cause an allergic reaction if your skin is sensitive. It looks very good, almost similar to a real tattoo.

Capital FM Sudan

As far as I know, Capital FM Sudan is the only English speaking radio station broadcasting in Sudan. It plays a variety of English songs throughout the day as it plays house, garage, reggae, rap, hip hop, R&B... etc. Furthermore, it has a couple of live shows where you can win free stuff and you can also request any of your favourite songs. The best thing about this radio station is that it can be heard through the internet where ever you are. It is such an innovative idea and it was highly needed here

Here is where you can listen to Capital FM 91.6

The Currency

What's funny about the currency here in Sudan is that it is not recognised outside the country. You can't take money with you and expect to change it somewhere outside of the country.  That's why foreigners and locals tend to change their money into whatever currency before they leave.

The notes start from 1 which is the lowesr up to 50 which is the highest. The currency is called Sudanese Pounds or 'ginaih'.

These are the coins which are called piastres or 'girsh'

After the Rain

One thing to keep in mind once it rains in Khartoum, is the after effects. The weather becomes surprisingly pleasant, however, the roads and streets turn into a massive disaster and walking on the inside streets will be a mission impossible. Having said all that, it is still better than getting burnt by the daily sun.

Must Eat Dish

Agashy is one of the cheapest meat dishes you can find here in Sudan. It is spiced grilled meat covered with breadcrumbs. Personally, I love how tasty and cheap it is, I prefer eating it in a sandwich rather than on its own simply because the special sauce they use goes very well with the meat.
