August marks the beginning of the autumn here in Sudan after the grilling summer. The rain makes the weather extremely pleasant and the sun starts hiding behind the countless clouds. When the weather is this pleasant walking around Khartoum in open areas such as the souq and the corniche in day light turns into an extraordinary experience.
This is my random thoughts and whatever comes to mind on a daily basis. It may look all over the place so sit back, relax and get a cuppa.. enjoy :)

Al Housh
Al Housh is one of the most exquisite new restaurants in Khartoum, Sudan. its location, architecture and décore are all extremely unique and superb. The staff are all dressed in traditional sudanese clothes and they are friendly and very approachable. It is more of an expensive restaurant but it's worth every penny as it is located on the banks of the river Nile in Omdurman right next to the ruins of the old city walls. It also has a children play area and live music playing. A definite must visit place

One of the most interesting sights you'll come across in the capital Khartoum is the delivery of fresh milk during the day. These are some pictures of the Milk Man in my area

Al Waha Mall
Al Waha Mall is technically the only mall here in Khartoum. It is spacious, well designed and clean, however, the stores are not all functioning so you'll just find a couple of shops working. It has a nice food court with some fast food chains, not famous though.
It is located in the middle of Khartoum, right next to the open market. A nice place to visit if you're into malls.
Khartoum Nights at the Nile
One thing Khartoum is famous for is the local tea shops you will find all over the city. Tea shops are run mainly by local women, it's similar to the cafe idea but a lot more simple than a cafe. The tea ladies or 'Sittat Alshy' bring plastic chairs and tables and set them around her main table where she makes the tea and boils the water. It is very fascinating to experience local tea made by local ladies.

Live Music in Khartoum
"Spectra"
Spectra is one of the new restaurants in Khartoum. It is located perfectly on the main road, the "airport" road. It is divided into 2 sides, a restaurant and a café. Personally I loved the atmosphere on both sides, however, I only tried the food in the café and it was impressive. Their portions are massive and they are extremely reasonable, in other words, you get a lot for your money. The feel in the restaurant is similar to an English pub, the lighting, furniture and music all reflect that pub atmosphere. I love it and would recommend it.
Khartoum Nights
One of the best things in Khartoum, is listening to live music at restaurants and cafes. One of the best groups I've listened to is Solo Band, they play every Friday at a restaurant called "Square" in Alriyad, Khartoum. The restaurant is reasonably priced but the live music is the best part of the evening.
